2007 Mercedes-Benz Brabus SV12 S Biturbo Coupe

2007 Mercedes-Benz Brabus SV12 S Biturbo Coupe

730 bhp of power, 974 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 211 mph. With the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo coupe, based on the latest Mercedes CL 600 model, Brabus presents one of the world’s fastest and most powerful coupes.

At the heart of this exclusive automobile is the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo engine. It is based on the turbocharged Mercedes 600 twelve-cylinder engine and represents the most powerful street-legal V12 engine in the world. Installing a special Brabus crankshaft with longer stroke, combined with a bigger bore and correspondingly sized forged pistons, increases displacement from 5.5 to 6.3 liters. Further engine modifications also include precision-machining the cylinder heads and fitting them with four special camshafts.

In addition the engine peripherals are also modified extensively. The modifications include special exhaust manifolds, two larger turbochargers, a high-efficiency intercooler and a high-performance exhaust system with metal catalysts and low back pressure. Extensive bench tests determined the new programming for the engine electronics that not only maximizes power yield but also ensures that the engine meets stringent Euro IV emission limits.

Performance figures of the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo displacement engine speak volumes: A rated power output of 730 bhp at 5,100 rpm is just as extraordinary as a peak torque of 974 lb-ft at just 2,100 rpm. In the car peak torque is limited electronically to 812 lb-ft.

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a modified five-speed automatic transmission. The optionally available Brabus locking differential optimizes traction. All Brabus drivetrain elements are operated with ARAL high-performance lubricants.

The Brabus S V12 S Biturbo coupe is not just at the top of its league in terms of the power output; it is also one of the fastest street-legal cars of its kind. 0 – 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, 125 mph after just 11.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 211 mph are all very impressive.

The enormous performance of the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo coupe places exceptionally high demands on the aerodynamic-enhancement parts that were developed in the wind tunnel. The sophisticated shape of the Brabus front apron reduces lift on the front axle and improves engine and front brake cooling due to its large air inlet. Integrated fog lamps and high beams lend the car a characteristic appearance and further improve active safety by optimizing illumination of the road.

The Brabus rocker panels optimize the airflow along the sides and feature integrated entrance lights for safe entering and exiting of the vehicle in the dark.

The Brabus rear apron sports custom-tailored cutouts for the Brabus quad sport exhaust. Three LED lights integrated into the apron are also activated via the keyless fob. An understated rear spoiler rounds out the sophisticated Brabus aerodynamics concept, and reduces lift on the rear axle for further improved directional stability at high speeds.

The enormous performance of the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo coupe is kept safely in check at all times thanks to custom-tailored solutions for tires, suspension and brakes. Among them are Brabus Monoblock light-alloy wheels with diameters of 18, 19, 20 or 21 inches. The largest tire/wheel combination features Brabus Monoblock VI and E wheels in sizes 9Jx21 in front and 10.5Jx21 on the rear axle. The largest corresponding tires are size 265/30 ZR21 in front and size 295/30 ZR21 in the rear. Brabus recommends Pirelli and Yokohama high-performance tires.

The Brabus module for the standard ABC suspension is specifically calibrated to these high-performance tires, and lowers the ride height of the two-door by about an inch. For further optimized active safety the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo coupe can be equipped with the Brabus high-performance brake system. Maximum fade-free stopping power is provided on the front axle by 380 x 36 millimeter discs and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers. The rear features 355 x 28 millimeter discs and six-piston aluminum fixed calipers.

Brabus also fulfills any requests imaginable when it comes to exclusive interior options. The list of products ranges from scuff plates with illuminated Brabus logo or an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel to an exclusive customized interior crafted from soft yet durable Brabus Mastik leather and the finest Alcantara.

To achieve greater downforce on the front and rear axle HAMANN offers a front spoiler as well as a rear wing. Whoever prefers to show their affiliation to motor sports can order the parts in Carbon-Kevlar instead of the fiberglass version. Where’s the starting grid?

HAMANN applies further aerodynamic components in form of a two-part rear diffuser with additional air hoses for the extendable side air intakes, side sills as well as a two-part front wing and Carbon-pendants for the original side intakes in the sills in front of the rear wheels. Furthermore, a central running air box on the roof brings back memories of past Lamborghini Diablo GT-R days. Naturally, these parts are also available in Carbon-Kevlar or fiberglass.

Impressive sound and stunning rims

The HAMANN double-pipe stainless sports rear silencer (2x120mm end pipes) emits a sound similar to that generated from race tracks announcing the arrival of the blood-curdling steer. Positive side effect; an even sportier rear look. Export customers can extend their exhaust system with a HAMANN sport metallic catalytic converter.

Also for individualization of vehicles within this high performance calibre, a choice of new wheel design is inherent. HAMANN suggests its own creation „Edition Race“. This multi-pieced, forged light alloy metal wheel with black wheel spider, “Y” spoke design, Titan bolts and high polished rim flange utilized for Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 comes in the combination 8,5Jx20“ front and 13,0Jx20“ rear. As expected, HAMANN also offers here a complete wheel set with typical tires sizes 235/30 ZR 20 (FA) und 325/25 ZR20 (RA).

HAMANN prepares the cockpit of the Super-Lambo providing even more sports racing atmosphere. For this, the tuners from Laupheim, Germany offer an 8-part carbon-look interior set. The race car look is established through instrument cockpit bordure, the air bleed jet, the gear shifting panel as well as the cigarette ashtray console. Naturally, HAMANN offers each Lamborghini customer preferred alterations on an individual basis. For instance, extravagant leather furnishing in a variety of colours is possible or additional of multi-media articles.

335 hp for the golf gti

Sportech customized the Golf 5 GTI and hopes to extract 335 hp from the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, which will allow the scorching hatch to beat a top end of 250 km/h (155 mph). The Sportech GTI will be unveiled at the Castrol Extreme Show on April 27.

"Building an out-and-out performance car would have been easy, but as well as being able to claim bragging rights to being the fastest Golf 5 GTI around, it also has to be able to stop and turn and still make more than a few heads swivel with its dramatic looks," said Sportech’s Chad Wentzel.

Pontiac Bandit by YearOne

Pontiac Bandit

Without a doubt, one of the most iconic cars of the ‘70s was a black and gold Pontiac Trans Am. Thanks to the release of Smokey and the Bandit in 1977, a whole generation of kids (and not just a few adults) had dreams of screaming down the highways wearing a cowboy hat and staying one step ahead of the law with his CB radio. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Smokey and the Bandit, YearOne is teaming up with Burt Reynolds to build a limited run of the ’77 and ’79 Bandit Trans Am. Subtle cosmetic upgrades will bring fit and finish to modern standards, while three different packages offer performance The Bandit could only dream of.

BAN1 will be a restored hard top or T-top body, updated with flush mounted front and rear glass, flush-fitting fender flairs, projector headlights and LED taillights. Interior upgrades include performance bucket seats and door panels with custom Bandit inserts, a custom instrument cluster with race-inspired gauges, electronic rear view mirror, factory console and, of course, an optional CB radio with antenna.

The suspension will employ bolt-on sub frame connectors, tubular upper control arms, upgraded bushings to firm up the body, and high performance coil and leaf springs. Powering the car will be a 450hp Pontiac 455, backed by a 5-speed manual or automatic overdrive trans, heavy duty 10-bolt rear with 3.42 gears, and a heavy duty aluminum radiator. Custom 18x9 “Snowflake” billet wheels wear 275/35/18 BFG tires, stopped by 4-wheel disc brakes with 12-inch rotors up front.

The BAN2 package builds on the basic platform. Interior appointments include race-inspired pedals, an upgraded console with integrated navigation system, upgraded stereo and a 4-point roll bar.

Handling is improved with a tubular front subframe, tubular upper and lower control arms, integrated subframe connectors, front coil-over shocks, and larger 13-inch front rotors. The rear end is a stout 12-bolt, with 3.42 or 3.73 gearing, and mini tubs are added to clear the 18x11 rear wheels fitted with 335/35/18 BFG tires. Powering the BAN2 will be your choice of an aluminum head 455 putting out 550hp, or a fuel injected 550hp GM LS-based engine, again backed by either a 5-speed or automatic overdrive.

Building off of the BAN2, the BAN3 takes everything several steps further. The interior is fitted with a 6-point roll bar, optional 5-point racing harnesses and a rear seat storage area, while the body receives competition driving lights and special badging.

Engine options are either a 496ci all aluminum Pontiac 455, or LS-based engine, both rated at 700hp, backed by a 5-speed manual trans only, coupled to the engine through a hydraulic clutch. Out back is a 12-bolt axle with 3.73 gears hung from a four link suspension with track bar. Coil over shocks are found at all four corners, with 6-piston calipers and 14-inch rotors up front. Rolling stock is likewise competition-inspired; 18x10 wheels with 285/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sports up front, while huge 19x12 rears fitted with 345/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sports.

Alfa Romeo Autodelta GT 3.2 Super Evo

autodelta gt 3.2 super evo

Alfa Romeo enthusiasts’ attention worldwide has over the last year has been firmly focused on the “new breed” of exciting Alfa Romeo models. And at the same time the attention of Autodelta’s design and engineering team has been on working through the rapidly-growing order book for the new 340bhp Autodelta Brera J5 3.2 C, as well as finalizing bespoke high-performance versions of the 159, 159 Sportwagon and Spider to be added to the range this year.

"It was an amazing decision,” adds Wissam, “because the outcome was a car that we both really love. The GT’s drive was always one to enjoy but with the extra 100 bhp and the superbly aggressive noise the new exhaust system makes, Autodelta has managed to make the car into what it is really supposed to be, the type of car that totally speaks to you and says ‘please drive me to the limit’. We have also driven the car on the new Dubai race track several times, exploring its potential fully, and it has always been a fun experience with the car setting very fast times. In the UAE it is often difficult for a car to stand out as there are many distinctive and expensive, luxury and supercars on the road – but the Autodelta GT Super Evo always captures attention wherever it goes.”

And although it has slipped somewhat from the public’s attention, the stylish Alfa GT Coupé continues to find a niche market, buyers continuing to be seduced by its excellent chassis, gorgeous Bertone-styled looks, and of course the availability of the classic Alfa 3.2 “V6” engine. Autodelta introduced its exclusive, bespoke version of the Alfa GT, the Autodelta GT 3.2 Super, at the MPH04 Motor Show in December 2004, before exactly a year later at MPH05, it introduced a new, more extreme version that pushed the performance and dynamic envelope out even further. This model, the awesome Autodelta GT 3.2 Super Evo, has proved to be hugely popular with customers with a steady stream of orders being fulfilled over the last year-and-a-half.

The 320bhp Autodelta GT Super had featured a bespoke Rotrex C30-94 supercharger utilised through a compact cooling and lubrication system developed by the firm’s talented engineers for the Alfa GT, along with chassis, suspension, transmission, electronics, braking and aerodynamic upgrades. The new Autodelta GT Super Evo then pushed the performance envelope out even further, offering increased levels of torque (287 lb/ft at 4800 rpm) and more power (341bhp at 6,450rpm) through the incorporation of a larger intercooler and higher-flow injectors, with boost raised from 0.45 to 0.55 bar, and utilising an evolutionary engine re-mapping programme. The 0-60 mph time was shaved to 5.2 seconds, while the main change apparent to the driver was in the substantial improvement in mid- and high-range acceleration as well as a more noticeable (and louder) sound emitted by the revised exhaust system, which was created specially for this “Evo” model in close conjunction with Autodelta’s exhaust development partner, Ragazzon.

While a growing number of Autodelta GT Super Evo models have since been built at the firm’s London HQ and by its authorized dealers worldwide, a customer in the United Arab Emirates recently approached Autodelta to convert his Alfa GT Coupé to full Evo specification. With a growing demand for Autodelta products in the Gulf region, Autodelta is currently putting a localized distribution network together, but for this project specially commissioned by Walid Shihabi and his brother Wissam – the first fully bespoke model programme to be carried out in the UAE - factory Autodelta engineers were to be dispatched to carry out the conversion using the excellent facilities of Gargash Motors LLC, the country’s official Alfa Romeo importer and distributor.

“Walid and I recently decided to upgrade our 3.2-litre Alfa Romeo GT Coupé to a supercharged version; and we chose Autodelta for their huge experience both with supercharging and with tuning Alfa Romeos,” says Wissam. “Getting the maximum performance possible out of the Alfa GT – without considering any compromises - was our main objective; any other issues were regarded as secondary".

"We flew to London just before Christmas to test-drive an Autodelta GT 3.2 Super Evo demonstrator and we ordered the conversion on the spot,”
he adds.

Autodelta air-freighted all the parts required for the conversion to the UAE last month, including the new body panels, and its engineers flew over to Dubai shortly afterwards to carry out the conversion. The Autodelta team was pleased to use the workshops of Gargash Motors LLC to carry out the conversion.

Porsche Cayman GTR by Farnbacher Loles Motorsport

Porsche Cayman GTR

Farnbacher Loles Motorsports unveiled its exclusive tuning for Porsche Cayman, limited to only 20 units. GTR features carbon fiber mirrors, a height-adjustable rear spoiler, a 997 aero-kit front end, carbon fiber splitter and a Euro-spec rear bumper set the GTR apart from the rest of the Caymans in the valet lot. Farnbacher Loles is happy to do a straight, sleeper-type Cayman engine swap for those with more subtle tastes. But the GTR is a complete car, engineered and tuned as a complete package.

Powered by a Porsche 3.8 liter X-51 engine and featuring a lowered suspension, aero body modifications, custom exhaust, and wider wheels and tires, the car drew crowds everywhere it went during the Sebring race weekend.

Revo engine management software is dyno tuned to enhance driveability. Output is a claimed 380 bhp-for now. A Stage II tuning package is in the works to throw that figure well over the 400 bhp fence. An exact number could not be confirmed, but insiders did admit to a ’healthy’ increase over current power specs.

A Sachs Sport clutch and a specially developed 60/40 clutch-type limited-slip differential feed power to the ground through massive 285/30-19 Yokahama ADVAN Sport rear tires. Front tires are 245/35-19, all four rolling on forged Fiske wheels. A retuned suspension has been developed with Cross Engineering. This includes increased spring rates, heavier anti-roll bars and Cross 15-way adjustable coilover shocks. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) mate the car’s stopping power with that of its go.

Audi Tuning Sportec RS 300

Audi Tuning Sportec RS 300

It's been quiet for a while at Sportec in the Swiss Alps, last time we spotted them was at 2006 Geneva where they introduced the smoking hot 800hp Porsche SPR1. But today is the day that they reveal a first glimpse on their latest project, the Sportec RS 300 based on the new Audi S3 8P.

As the name suggests, the sporty hot-hatch comes with 300 horses (up from a factory 265hp) drawn from the 2.0 TFSI engine, and it will speed up to 100km/h in approximately 5.1 secs. Maximum speed lies at 258 km/h which should be plenty for any highway, including Autobahns.

Painted in brilliant black with very brave, eye-catching green accents and break calipers the RS 300 sits on a choice of 18 or 19 inch wheels, is equipped with a double 76mm exhaust tips and has optional interior decorations like sport pedals, floormats and Alcantara lining.
